Some people were arrested for dancing – a week before these protestors came to the Jefferson memorial – and were prosecuted and fined, as a result of this court decision dancing has now become equal to protest or demonstration under federal case law. The irony is that Jefferson himself said: “The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive.” They soil his memory by crushing peaceful protest.
