Wes Anderson is bringing an animated adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s 1970’s book Fantastic Mr. Fox to life on the silver screen. It’ll be probably released on December 3rd in the Netherlands and November 6th in the US.
I think I should buy my God daughter this book for Christmas.
I was just reading Warner Bros. and the Magic World of Harry Potter and saw that the last Harry Potter book will be in two parts. Obviously this being the last story they need to stretch it out as much as possible.
- Spring 2010: The theme park attraction, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, will open at Universal Orlando Resort, Orlando, Fla.
- Holiday 2010: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, based on the final novel, is scheduled for theatrical release.
- Summer 2011: The final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, will be released.
UPDATE: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is being released on the 15th of July.
I loved Ice Age and liked Ice Age: The Meltdown. So to cater to my needs they are producing an Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. I’ve seen this part called the threequel. *sigh* Sequel has nothing to do with second and everything to do with sequence.
Merriam-Webster defines it as:
- consequence, result
- a: subsequent development
b: the next installment (as of a speech or story); especially : a literary, cinematic, or televised work continuing the course of a story begun in a preceding one
My English isn’t fantastic, though it’s my mother-tongue, but I don’t go making up words because I don’t have even a basic comprehension of the works I’m using. Anyway, it put me right off the film.
On June 16th in the US and July 2nd in the Netherlands Disney will release Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I liked the original game Prince of PersiaIMDB released in 1989, although I never played any of the other games. I can’t remember if my friend had it on NES or SNES, but in my mind I played it on the Commodore 64. Must be my imagination as it isn’t possible according to the list on Wikipedia.
I wonder how the film turns out…
They are releasing X-Men Origins: Wolverine April 30th, on Queensday? With the nice weather we’ve been having in the last years there is little point to pick that as the release date. It’s competing with one of the biggest street parties of the year. Then again it surprises me that cinemas are open on Queensday anyway.
I’m sure I’ll see the movie at some point, but certainly not on Queensday.
According to License! Hasbo is making the toys and Sega will be making the game, but they sold the rights for Halloween costumes to Disguise. I didn’t even think about Halloween, which is probably why I’m not in Licensing.
Had I mentioned that Marvel turned 70 this year?
I love vampire stories, there is something slightly erotic about all that milky white flesh and blood. And all the ravishing of young wenches that goes on will keep you entertained for hours. It’s a horror genre that can easily go from light hearted comedy to suspense and thriller to slaughter and splatter and back to comedy.
Due to the nature of the films the sensual and sexual often cross over, but being eternal creatures of the night does something to their libido. Which is why I think, with some exceptions, there is very little sex in vampire films. Although depending on the films they can reproduce by something other that infecting a host. Which is why there can be pure blood vampires, although obviously they could also be created by other unknown means.
Twilight, release on December 12th in the US and January 8th in the Netherlands, has the tagline: “When you can live forever what do you live for?” Isn’t it quite obvious blood and young wenches.
The IMDB synopsis is “A teenage girl risks everything when she falls in love with a vampire.” Which means we’ll have lots of teenage angst in there. The leading lady, representing the teenage angst, will be Kristen Stewart who I recognized as the blondie girl from Panic Room.
I’m happy and sad, they will be releasing a movie version of Where the Wild Things Are, originally by Maurice Sendak, on October 16th 2009. This is my all time favourite book, to the exclusion of all others. And I buy it for all the children I know for Christmas or their birthdays, if they hadn’t already gotten it from me.
