Time to meetSue again! @letsmeetsue #event

Sunday, February 20 from 17:00 to 20:00 has organized a networking event and you’re invited! This time in a new and exciting venue: the baggage hal of Loods 6 on KNSM island. Obviously, easy to reach by car and public transport.

The program of this third meetSue networking event: as little as possible! We have created a networking evening which stimulates in our own unconventional way. But obviously with a few special features. There is live music and we have some exceptional entrepreneurs present to inspire the guests of meetSue. They are there to tell their story, share their knowledge and expertise, and answer questions. Topics can be anything including social media, marketing, business in general and much much more. The meetSue way, not with a microphone in hand and a Powerpoint presentation. How? meetSue and be amazed!

As we want to keep meetSue open for everybody, we don’t ask for entrance fee. We do ask our guests to contribute € 7.50. Come for welcome drink, snacks and expect an inspiring evening. Looking forward to February 20th!

Medicine Sans Frontier - Doctors without Borders

Medicine Sans Frontier, Doctors without Borders, asked people to donate their Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn profiles and profile images for one day. They do something similar to Twibbon, with the exception that they ask you change your profile image back yourselves. I support the work of MSF, and I think this is a great way for people, who don’t examine their profile pages and images daily or are lazy, to have the profile update for more than one day.

What MSF incorrectly tells you is that they are unable to change back the profile details, they can. All that is required is that they store the token which they use to update your profile, just as Twibbon does. They may not do this for security reasons or laziness, and my belief is that they do this because they know they can get more milage out of this than just the that one day.

Other than that it’s a fine cause which I believe should be supported.

Hackers and Founders Meet Up #amsterdam #event

Hacker and Founders

The Hackers and Founders Meet Up, started by James Bryan Graves (@jbryangraves), is inspired by the meet ups which started in the US and have moved to the rest of the world. Although I could only spend a short time there I was able to speak with a number of the new members who came to the meet up’s location.

It’s clear that under the Hackers and Founders who came that mobile tech is still as important as the traditional web platforms, although I did hear of a number of interesting mobile apps which are being created. I hope to come to the next meet up and have more time to spend talking to the participants.

For those who are interested, @grammarware has created a Twitter list featuring the Hackers and Founders of Amsterdam.

MediaFunnel – Simple Social Media Care #webcare

MediaFunnel is a Social Media care tool for managing the posting on Twitter and Facebook. Like Hootsuite it’s possible to assign responses or respondents to messages and queue up future messages. Integrated into MediaFunnel is also SalesForce Tweet to Leads, which makes it possible to use Tweets and turn them into Leads,[1] although this feature doesn’t seem to be well documented.

Other than this it is a simple tool with a simple interface, and a fair amount of power.

They will be releasing a new version soon, although I haven’t see it I will probably be posting more about them soon. The paid for version includes Brand Monitoring and Alerts.

Online Networking translates into 9% revenue increase says ING Bank #business

De Zaak Logo

ING and Dutch entrepreneur group de Zaak, which I believe is heavily sponsored by the ING, preformed research in the Netherlands amongst entrepreneurs. It shows most of the online networkers use LinkedIn (91%) for their business networking, although Facebook (40%), Twitter (34%) and Hyves (30%) lag behind it shows that they are also contributing also.

60% of entrepreneurs who network traditionally, said their sales increased because of their networking activities. They calculate this as a 12.5% revenue increase. 20% of online networkers say that turnover has also increased by nearly 9%.

Sawadee Travel – The Road To SocialTravel (@sawadeereizen) #travel

I was at the offices of , a travel company which focusses on creating “unique” travel experiences, yesterday to discover the inroads they are making into the field of Social Media. Naturally I can’t comment very much on the specifics of their fledgling campaigns, but I could certainly see that they are making good headway in integrating their marketing campaigns, which are still old media based, into a new media world.

Much can be said for the steps they are taking, and the customer interaction which they are creating. Seen in the puur marketing sense they are better able to see the ROI in their Social Media campaigns, and are taking many opportunities to create buzz round the brand. What was specifically refreshing is to see the application of the to the interaction with the customer. Although we didn’t get into the specifics yesterday it was clear to see that they discovered for themselves that the 80-20 rule relates also to the application of Social Media. For 80% of their customer attention the interaction is intended to add value to the customer experience, and only in 20% of the customer interaction do they spend on direct marketing specific products. And they are seeing this in the ROI with sales coming from their Social Media channels.
