Capitain America #movie

with one comment

The first action figure I remember getting was Captain America, with a little plastic shield. I also had The Avengers comic books. Captain America was symbolic of America for me, just like Superman. I was very young and impressionable.

Now Marvel is releasing The First Avenger: Captain America, they plan to follow it up in May 2012 with The Avengers movie, but as I write this I’m not sure of the exact release date.

Thor the #Movie

leave a comment »

One of my first real American comics was Thor, I really liked it. Sadly it remained at this comic, I never bought any others. I can only vaguely remember a character with wild blond hair and a Norse helmet. I liked Thor and if I really search hard I should be able to find it somewhere.

Marvel releasing Thor the movie on May 19th 2011.

Birthday Greetings

leave a comment »

There are a number of greetings for this year, Mattel’s Barbie turns 50 this year. You’d never guess to look at her.

DC Comics is turning 75, and Batman is 70 which makes him a year younger than Superman. Don’t ask me how old Albert, he must be pushing up the daisies by now.

Marvel also turns 70, it founded as Timely Publications in 1939. Their first hero was Human Torch.

Sesame Street turns middle aged at 40.

Missed Comic Based Movies

with one comment

I saw this Wired article on all the comic based movies coming to the big screen: Comics-Based Movies Keep on Comin’ With a list like that you can’t be surprised that they missed an X-Men movie, X-Men Origins: Magneto.

This at least a good list for the real fans. Other coming movies include Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, and Fantastic Mister Fox by Roald Dahl.
