The Godfather - Mario Puzo - cover

I read Mario Puzo famed book The Godfather after having seen the movie a number of times.

For a novel written in 1969 Don Vito Corleone’s old world wisdom adapts well to the modern world:

That was the mark of the Don’s humanity. He knew from bitter experience what courage it took to ask a favour from a fellow man.

And Puzo often puts very wise words on friendship into the Don’s mouth:

“Friendship is everything. Friendship is more than talent. It is more than government. It is almost the equal of family. Never forget that. If you had build up a wall of friendship you wouldn’t have to ask me to help.”

“…, but they would not murder each other. That was friendship enough in this world, all that was needed.”

There are a number of great words on friendship left, but I’ll leave you to read them.
